5-Step Plan for a Safer Route 9
- Push for State Investment – Advocate with state transportation officials to raise low-visibility areas of Route 9 and secure funding for long-term fixes.
- Open Stearns Road – Work with city planners to explore opening Stearns Road as an alternate route to ease traffic.
- Increase Safety Signage – Install more signs reminding drivers to slow down, share the road, and avoid distractions.
- Boost Patrol Presence – Partner with State Police to step up patrols, enforce speed limits, and deter reckless driving.
- Engage the Public – Host community forums and surveys to gather resident ideas, such as crosswalk needs, lighting improvements, or traffic-calming measures.
